BlastAll Wet & Dry Abrasive Blasters

What Are BlastAll Abrasive Blasters?

BlastAll builds wet and dry abrasive blasters for restoration, coating removal and industrial surface preparation. Its wet-capable systems allow independent adjustment of air pressure and abrasive flow, helping operators match the setup to the substrate and required finish. Compatible media include garnet, slag, grit, sand, soda and glass, subject to the model and application requirements.

BlastAll is a Canadian manufacturer based in Dunnville, Ontario, owned and operated by the McIntyre family. Their experience in blasting, coating, contracting and equipment manufacturing spans three generations. Bolair is an authorized dealer with stock and service departments in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. Availability varies by model and branch.

Wet Abrasive Blasting Versus Dry Blasting

Dry abrasive blasting uses compressed air and abrasive media to remove coatings and prepare a surface. Wet abrasive blasting adds water to help suppress airborne dust. The choice depends on the substrate, required surface profile, coating specification and whether water can be used on site. Wet blasting also requires planning for runoff, residue removal and drying before coating.

Five things wet blasting changes on site:

  • Reduced airborne dust. BlastAll reports dust suppression of up to 92% compared with conventional dry blasting. The reduction varies with the application and operating conditions; containment requirements remain specific to the job.
  • Versatility across a wide range of applications. Wet abrasive blasting can be used for everything from delicate restoration work to heavy-duty industrial surface preparation by adjusting blast pressure and abrasive flow to suit the substrate and coating being removed.
  • Greater control over blasting performance. BlastAll systems allow air pressure and abrasive consumption to be adjusted independently, helping operators balance production rates, surface finish, and media consumption for the application.
  • Potentially fewer surface-preparation steps. Wet abrasive blasting can help remove contaminants during the blasting process and may reduce additional cleaning requirements, depending on the substrate, project specifications, and coating manufacturer's requirements.
  • Control on sensitive substrates. Lower-pressure setups can be suitable for restoration work on thin metal, fibreglass, soft stone and wood. Media choice and operator technique remain important; test the setup on a small area first.

Wet abrasive blasting combines water and abrasive media to help reduce airborne dust during surface preparation. BlastAll equipment uses a vapour abrasive blasting process where water and media are stored under pressure and introduced into the blast stream in a controlled manner. This allows operators to adjust air pressure and abrasive consumption independently, providing greater flexibility across a wide range of blasting applications.
BlastAll reports dust suppression of up to 92% compared with conventional dry blasting. Actual results depend on the media, operating pressure, substrate and site conditions. Dust suppression does not eliminate the need to assess containment and exposure controls for the job.
BlastAll lists garnet, slag, grit, sand, soda and glass among compatible media. Suitability depends on the model, wet or dry operating mode, substrate and required surface profile. Check the equipment instructions and coating specification when selecting the media.
Yes. The wet-capable JR300, SR600 and GP2000 allow adjustment of air pressure and abrasive consumption for different substrates. Use an appropriate abrasive and pressure setting, and test a small area before treating the full surface.
No blasting method guarantees that thin metal will remain distortion-free. Adding water can help limit surface heating, but abrasive impact, pressure, technique and metal thickness also affect the risk of warping. Use a suitable setup and test a small area first.
Wet abrasive blasting can remove coatings and corrosion while creating a surface profile. It does not guarantee that the surface is ready to coat: rinsing, residue removal, soluble salt testing or further preparation may still be required. Follow the coating specification and check the surface condition before application.
Both models can blast wet or dry and allow independent control of air pressure and abrasive consumption. The JR300 weighs 270 lb (122 kg) empty and suits mobile restoration and maintenance work. The SR600 weighs 390 lb (176.9 kg) empty and offers greater abrasive capacity for larger jobs.
